Heritage Volunteers

The Arts Society Heritage Volunteers are involved in many projects all over the UK helping to conserve and protect the nation’s heritage.  Working closely with the curators and volunteering managers of museums, churches, gardens, historic houses and archivists in historic sites, our Volunteers get great satisfaction in helping to conserve these wonderful places.

Here in Truro we have a dedicated team of Volunteers who are working on conserving the books, pamphlets and papers of the Courtney Library in the Royal Cornwall Museum.  At present the team is divided into two groups who each work for three hours either on the first or third Thursday of the month.

The team has full training by a recognised conservator and all find the work fascinating and very rewarding.  In joining us you would learn new skills, make new friends and enjoy knowing that you are making a difference.

The team would welcome any suggestion for expanding the work we do, not only in Heritage Volunteering, but also in Church Recording or devising Children’s Trails, so if you know of an organisation that would benefit from our expertise, please let us know.
